A Tesla electric car mounted the pavement and crashed through the window of a supermarket in Tsuen Wan on Wednesday, injuring the driver and a member of staff.
At around 1 pm, the male driver lost control of the Tesla while driving along Hoi Shing Road and crashed into the bakery of the AEON supermarket at Skyline Plaza.
The 59-year-old driver Ng suffered minor injuries to his lips and legs, while a 23-year-old bakery female staff member was also injured by a falling cabinet. The bakery was left significantly damaged by the incident.
Ng, who claimed to have 40 years of driving experience, said the car suddenly accelerated despite stepping on the brake pedal.
It was learned that the electric car was a rental, and the accident happened just after the driver got the vehicle.
