HK women's table tennis team secures medal at FISU World University Games

Hong Kong’s women's table tennis team on Monday secures a medal at the 31st edition of the FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China.

The team, comprised of Doo Hoi-kem, Minnie Soo, and Lam Yee-lok, advanced to the final four after beating India’s team 3-0.

The trio overpowered their opponent in the individual matches, guaranteeing the team at least a bronze by reaching the semis with no play-off for third and fourth place.

They will play in the semi-finals tonight at 6.55 pm, facing the Japan team.

Meanwhile, the men’s table tennis team was knocked out 3-0 by the Japan team in the quarter-finals.

Separately, Hong Kong’s top tennis player Coleman Wong Chak-lam was shown the door out in the tennis men's singles second round, beaten in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) by Liam Krall of the USA.

He will now turn his focus on the mixed doubles event, teaming up with his partner Cody Wong Hong-yi.
