Chan had his live Cantonese commentary for Fox Sports Asia cut off after he referred to Covid-19 as the "Wuhan virus," with viewers having their signals cut abruptly due to a "technical error."

But some viewers who supported Chan said Now TV was engaging in self-censorship.
Chan said he called the coronavirus the "Wuhan virus" because it is commonly used by local media in Hong Kong. He said people should feel free to refer to the virus by its official name or English name, but that he would continue to use the colloquial one.
