Several Hongkongers demonstrated how they use every precious minute during their MTR commute to entertain themselves: by playing mahjong on the way.
A video has gone viral online showing several MTR passengers playing mahjong inside a carriage. In the video, several men played the game on a table, attracting onlookers who filmed the scene with their phones.
One player stood when playing the game, while another squatted on the floor.
MTR Corp confirmed that five men played mahjong after getting onboard at Mongkok station last Wednesday (October 13). They played mahjong until they got off at Choi Hung station.
The railway operator calls upon passengers not to obstruct aisles and not to disturb other passengers.
According to MTR by-laws, no person shall cause annoyance to other passengers on trains or in any part of MTR premises.
The video attracted comments like “they really didn't waste any time (during the commute)” and "I want to join."
One netizen joked that those men can play four rounds of mahjong if they bring their set on the Tuen Ma Line – which takes more than an hour going from on end of the line to the other.
"There is so much interesting stuff happening on MTR every day but I did not see it even once," another said.
But a netizen questioned if those men were posing it. He said the video looks like a click bait You Tube video or an advertisement.
