Hong Kong Jockey Club has terminated its membership for 14 people, including Next Digital founder Jimmy Lai Chee-ying and jailed activist Albert Ho Chun-yan.
Also getting the boot is 82-year-old Martin Lee Chu-ming, founder of the Democratic Party.
Lai is currently serving prison term over three previous cases where he was convicted of taking part in unauthorized assemblies. He will also go on trial later for violating the national security law.
Ho was also sentenced to 18-month imprisonment for knowingly taking part and inciting others to take part in five unauthorized assemblies during the social unrest.
Lee on the other hand was sentenced to 11 months behind bars, suspended for two years in April for taking part in an unauthorized assembly at Victoria Park on August 18, 2019.
The notice dated September 2 stated that their membership has ceased with immediate effect. It was signed by Steven Tan, Head of Membership Services of Hong Kong Jockey Club.
