HK risks exporting virus in travel plan

Singapore has a more stable situation with regard to the coronavirus compared with Hong Kong and there is a greater risk of exporting the disease, than importing it, microbiologist Ho Pak-leung said.

He told a radio program that in Singapore there have not been patients of unknown sources of infection in the community in the past 10 days. In contrast, there were 114 confirmed patients in the first two weeks of this month, of which 62 were local infections, in Hong Kong.

Ho said there are many uncertainties about the epidemic situation in Hong Kong and that it could worsen in the autumn and the winter.

To realize the 'travel bubble,' the virus situation in the two cities need to be similar, Ho said.
