Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po has expressed confidence in Hong Kong Disneyland's continued appeal as a premier tourist attraction in the city, speaking at the resort's 20th anniversary celebration opening ceremony.
Chan highlighted the theme park's remarkable journey of expansion and reinvention since its 2005 debut, which last year saw a record-breaking 7.7 million visitors.
"Over these two decades, Hong Kong Disneyland has become a beloved destination for tourists worldwide, particularly drawing families and visitors from Southeast Asia," Chan remarked.
The financial secretary emphasized that the park's consistent evolution has cemented its status as a must-visit location, with last year's attendance figures demonstrating its enduring popularity.
Chan framed Disneyland's success as emblematic of Hong Kong's innovative spirit, noting how the park teaches visitors that "imagination is key."
In an era of rapid change, he stressed the importance of continuous innovation to maintain competitive advantage.
"By pursuing more creative collaborations with communities and businesses, and diversifying our offerings, we can deliver even better experiences for guests," Chan added.
Looking ahead, Chan expressed optimism that Hong Kong Disneyland would continue evolving while preserving the magical experiences that have made it a cross-generational favorite, reinforcing its position as a cornerstone of the city's tourism economy.
