Hang Seng Index plunges nearly 300 points on first trading day after CNY

The Hang Seng Index slumped the early morning trading session on the first trading day of the Year of the Horse.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 293 points, or 1.1 percent to 26,412 points. 

The Hang Seng Tech Index declined 2.6 percent to around 5,228 points.
