Hang Seng Index jumps above 26,000 on first trading day of 2026

The Hang Seng Index jumped through the 26,000-point mark on the first trading day of 2026 in the early trading session.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index increased by 417 points, or 1.6 percent to 26,048 points. 

The Hang Seng Tech Index surged by 3 percent to around 5,684 points.
