Hong Kong TVB actor Kenneth Ma Kwok-ming looked visibly saddened as he attended a low-key funeral for his late father on Thursday morning (Dec 11), with his wife Roxanne Tong Lok-man by his side to support him, according to an exclusive report by Sing Tao, the sister publication of The Standard.
Ma’s father, a former engineer at Towngas, passed away recently. A simple, non-religious vigil was held at the Universal Funeral Parlour on Wednesday night (Dec 10), and the coffin was transferred to Cape Collinson Crematorium this morning for cremation.
Emotional farewell
Dressed in black, Ma looked visibly saddened as he carried his father’s portrait to the hearse. At the crematorium, he waited at the entrance while staff arranged the proceedings. Tong, also in black and wearing glasses, arrived shortly after with Ma’s mother and other relatives. She carefully helped the elderly family member off the vehicle before joining Ma at the entrance.
After the cremation, about 30 relatives and friends were led by funeral staff to step over a charcoal basin as part of the traditional ritual. Ma held his wife’s hand as they left the hall before the couple assisted Ma’s mother onto a coach. Tong pressed her palms together twice to acknowledge reporters, showing quiet respect.
When asked for a comment, Ma simply replied, “Thank you for your concern,” before accompanying his family onto the bus.
