The authoritative American film magazine "The Hollywood Reporter" (THR) annually selects its "100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment". As in previous years, numerous figures from both in-house and behind-the-scenes roles in the entertainment industry are included.
Jennifer Aniston, an actress, producer, and owner of the film company ECHO FILMS, is once again on the list. Reese Witherspoon, who co-starred with Aniston in the series The Morning Show, is also on the list.
Other nominated film actresses include Academy Award Best Actress winner Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Eva Longoria, Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, and Scarlett Johansson.
This year's list also features several Asian female directors. Maggie Kang, the Korean-Canadian director who rose to fame with the hit streaming animated series K-Pop Demon Hunters, is a first-time entrant on the list.
Additionally, Chloe Zhao, the first Chinese woman to win an Academy Award for Best Director, is back on the list. Her new film, Hamnet, has a strong chance of being nominated for another Oscar next year.
Beyoncé, the American pop star, is also on the list as a music icon. Her nomination is attributed to her Grammy Awards win earlier this year and her hugely successful tour, which earned her US$407 million.
American pop star Ariana Grande and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo are both on the list this year. Furthermore, American actress, singer, and screenwriter Selena Gomez is also on the list.
