A Hong Kong police officer has died after falling out of a songthaew during his holiday to Pattaya on Monday.

According to local reports, the 48-year-old man Lam Chi-fai, was found injured in the middle of the road after he was thrown off a songthaew - also known as a tuk tuk - at around 8 am yesterday.
Photos circulated online saw locals and paramedics resuscitating Lam at the scene after the accident.
The report noted that local police have since located the driver of the songthaew, who said he was unaware of the accident.
Responding to media inquiries, the Immigration Department confirmed that it had received a request for help from the man's family, and pledged to render all possible assistance. Police also confirmed that the man was a serving officer.
It is understood that the deceased was a police sergeant stationed in the Cheung Sha Wan district.
