A motorcycle crashed into a fence early Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a biker and severely wounding the passenger in Yuen Long.
Around midnight today, a male biker was driving along Tai Tong Shan Road behind a Tesla sedan but crashed as it attempted to overtake the Tesla near the Happy Garden Farm.
The biker was crushed under the bike, and both he and the passenger were lying on the road injured.
Their accompanying friend contacted the police for assistance.
The rescue workers arrived at the scene and took the unconscious driver to Pok Oi Hospital for urgent medical attention, where he was later pronounced dead around 1 a.m.
The male passenger remained conscious and was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for medical attention and remains hospitalized as his condition continued to be serious after treatment.
It is understood that the biker Ng, 33 and the male passenger Ng, 25, were siblings who went for a ride on the elder brother's recently brought Kawasaki motorbike.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that at the time of the incident, the Tesla involved was driving up Tai Tong Shan Road towards the Tai Tong Barbecue Area, while the Ng brothers were following behind on their motorcycles.
When the two vehicles approached the rain shelter near Tai Tong Shan Road, the motorcycle attempted to overtake the Tesla on the right, but the motorcycle crashed and hit the railings, causing the two brothers to fall to the ground with injuries.
After an investigation, the police arrested the 34-year-old Tesla driver, surnamed Tse, on suspicion of dangerous driving.
The case is being followed up by the New Territories North Police Traffic Unit.
