The hosts of the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, the Hong Kong China Rugby Union, announced on Tuesday that only less than 500 tickets are still available for the event set to start on Friday (Apr 5).
The game will be held at the Hong Kong Stadium for three consecutive days.
It will also be the last dance for the HK Rugby Sevens to bid farewell to the iconic venue, as it will be hosted at the Kai Tak Sports Park in future.
The union said today that over 39,500 out of 40,000 tickets have been sold, and they expect the remaining tickets to be sold out within the following 24 hours.
The event has received large-scale attention from international tourists, and with the support of England, Australia, and Fiji fans, it accounts for 40 percent of the ticket sales, a significant increase compared to 2023's 23 percent and 2022's 3 percent.
Chairman Chris Brooke stated that Rugby Sevens 2024 is the 30th year it has been held in the Hong Kong Stadium. He is looking forward to the first full house after the pandemic.
The game also invited bands and singers from all over the globe, including Jamaican reggae band The Wailers, the main vocalist of American band Journey, Arnel Pineda, Hong Kong's Celine Tam, Lollytalk, etc.
In addition, the renowned cheerleaders from Taiwan, the Rakuten Girls, will also send eight members to Hong Kong to boost the cheerful atmosphere of the competition.
