A French parkour runner plunged to his death while practicing the extreme sport on building roofs at Hong Kong’s upscale Mid-Levels on Thursday.
Police received a report at around 9 pm yesterday that a foreign man was found unconscious on the ground level of Tregunter Tower on Tregunter Path. He was certified dead at the scene after paramedics arrived.
Police believed the man, who they suspected was an extreme sports enthusiast, had fallen off the roof of the high-rise residential block after they found the man’s sports camera containing some videos of extreme sports.
Sources said the man’s French identity card was the only identification document found at the scene, and he was not a resident of the building.
It was understood that the man entered the building after telling the security guard he was visiting a friend on the top floor, in which the security guard later found out that the resident in the said flat did not know the man.
According to CCTV footage, the man was seen leaving the lift on the 49th floor and walking up the staircases to the roof. The lock to the roof was also said to have been forced open.
Police’s said they have found nothing suspicious regarding the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
