A video clip circulated online sees a security guard on patrol in the corridor followed by another man from behind wielding two knives.
The man stands still but keeps waving the knives like an orchestra conductor waving a baton.
As the guard ignores the man and walks to the staircase, the man leaves, and the video ends.
The incident occurred at about 4 pm on Wednesday on the 6/F of Harry Industrial Building on Au Pui Wan Street in Fo Tan.
According to the netizen who uploaded the video online, he later confirmed with the property management office that the man was wielding two knives and singing the national anthem.
The netizen wanted the office to file a police report, but the office refused, saying there was nothing the police could do.
The office also worried that the man might get revenge on the caller who reported it to the police. Still, worrying about personal safety, the netizen filed a police report.
Police said officers arrived at the scene at about 5.45 pm that day and found the man, who smelled drunk but was not armed. The man was then sent to Prince of Wales Hospital, and police listed the case as suspected mentally ill person found.
