Police hunting for knife-wielding man who chased after student over dispute in Wong Tai Sin mall

Police are currently looking for a man in his 40s who chased after a student holding a knife in Wong Tai Sin on Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

It is understood that the incident happened inside Temple Mall North after a group of secondary students got into a dispute with the suspect while having lunch at a restaurant.

Sources said during the confrontation, one of the students gave the suspect the finger, triggering the suspect to chase after the student after grabbing a table knife from the restaurant.

The student eventually make it back to his school safely.

Police officers, including officers of the Counter Terrorism Response Unit, responded to the scene and canvassed the area for the suspect. It was said that the suspect is in his 40s and is 1.7 meters tall with a “fat build.”
