Extreme heat special weather tip issued again as mercury tops 37 degrees Celsius

The observatory on Wednesday issued the extreme heat special weather tip for the second day in a row as temperatures in urban areas reached up to 35 degrees Celsius. 

The special weather tip was issued at 10.15 am today. The weather watchdog also issued the Very Hot Weather Warning, while the Labor Department issued the Amber Heat Stress at Work Warning. 

As of 11.10 am, the mercury had risen to 37.1 degree Celsius in Yuen Long Park. 

Other areas that have breached 35 degrees Celsius include Chek Lap Kok, Sham Shui Po, Cheung Chau, Sheung Shui, Tai Lung, and Lau Fau Shan. 

Citizens are reminded to drink more water and take necessary measures against the heat to prevent discomfort. 

They should take rest and seek help or medical attention immediately should they develop symptoms like dizziness, headache, nausea, shortness of breath, or confusion.
