Police bomb disposal team detonates old mortar shell found in Shek O

Bomb disposal experts detonated an old mortar shell after a gardener found the explosive inside a detached house on 11 Big Wave Bay Road in Shek O.

The force said officers were alerted to a 3-inch long metal shell around noon today by a member of the public.

Around 20 including residents and workers of the detached house were evacuated as bomb experts from the force destroyed the mortar shell in a controlled explosion. No one was injured.
