Pedestrian dies 4 days after being hit by FEHD contractor truck in North Point; driver arrested

A 60-year-old female pedestrian has died four days after being hit by a medium-sized truck operated by a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department contractor in North Point.

The woman, surnamed Ng, was struck on October 4 around 10.11pm as the truck traveled along King's Road towards Shau Kei Wan and prepared to turn left into Shu Kuk Street near the Sunbeam Theatre. She suffered head injuries and was taken to Eastern Hospital unconscious, where she was pronounced dead at 12.14pm on Sunday.

Police arrested the 45-year-old male truck driver, surnamed Lam, on Saturday on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail and must report to police in early December.

Sources said the driver's breath test result was zero at the time of the incident. The case has been handed to the Hong Kong Island traffic special investigation team.
