A male engineer has been found guilty of murder at the High Court today for stabbing her girlfriend to death on a bus three years ago.
Ng Yan-kin, 26, was said to have attacked his girlfriend Li Sin-heng with a 28-centimeter knife on the upper deck of CityBus route 118 when the bus reached the Chai Wan bus depot near Fu Shing Court on Chai Wan Road on September 16, 2017.
Ng stabbed his girlfriend more than 30 times and stabbed himself several times before breaking a window with an emergency hammer and jumping out.
After 36 days of trial, a jury comprised of five women and two men have unanimously found Ng guilty of murder.
Justice Audrey Campbell-Moffat said typically a convicted murder suspect is given a life sentence, but the court will allow time for the defense to present a plea in mitigation.
The case will be adjourned to January 14 next year awaiting sentencing.
