Cargo ship loses control, crashes into Tsing Yi pier

A cargo ship collided into a pier in Tsing Yi on Tuesday morning. No injuries were reported.

Shortly before 11 a.m. today, a ship was arriving at the pier under the Stonecutters' Bridge in Tsing Yi but is suspected of having run into stormy waves, resulting in a crash into a pier near Eastchamplight Logistic.

The police and firefighters were called to the scene to follow up on the accident and assist in the investigation.

It is understood that the cargo ship had a hole in the front right of its hull, but no water had entered the ship.

No injuries were reported.

The officers later left the scene, and the case was handed over to the shipping company for follow up.
