A taxi driver has been ticketed after a video circulating online showed his vehicle transporting an motorcycle in its open boot on Yuen Long Highway, sparking safety concerns.
The incident occurred on March 10. The footage showed the taxi traveling along the highway with the motorcycle protruding from the trunk, prompting netizens to mock the driver as a "new force in the towing industry."
The New Territories North traffic investigation unit took the case seriously and proactively investigated after noticing the clip. Following an in-depth investigation, officers issued a summons on Monday to a 46-year-old man surnamed Chong for allegedly "driving a dangerous vehicle."
Police reminded road users to abide by traffic rules. Under Section 58 of the Road Traffic (Traffic Control) Regulations, drivers must ensure that all parts and accessories of their vehicle do not pose a danger to anyone in or near the vehicle on the road.
