TDC adds to Christmas chill with bazaar

Locals and tourists alike can visit a new food and entertainment event organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council during the Christmas holiday period at Asia World-Expo.

"Chill 11," slated for December 23 to 26, will combine arts and culture, culinary delights and entertainment experiences, as well as brands and products, creating an extraordinary retail entertainment experience for Hong Kong and Macau residents, as well as visitors from Greater Bay Area to enjoy, said council deputy executive director Sophia Chong Suk-fan.

About 70 activities are in store during the four-day event, with some 30 workshops suitable for children, youngsters and families. The workshops include Christmas face painting, Christmas bear keychain making and minibus signage making.

Chill 11 also has a massive 32-meter inflatable entertainment facility, Chill Castle, for children to play and an eight-meter-tall sparkling Christmas tree for families to take pictures with.

"We also hope that through Chill 11, small and medium-sized local brands, cultural and creative products can reach out to the Greater Bay Area market, showcasing Hong Kong's creative prowess and cultural influence," Chong said.

"We believe it will further facilitate exchanges between Hong Kong and Macau, and other cities in the GBA, and at the same time boost consumption and stimulate the economy in the region.

"The event is named Chill 11 because it features nine cities in GBA together with Hong Kong and Macau."

The bazaar will offer live performances, featuring local Cantopop girl group After Class, and singers Albert Chau Kat-pui and Ramon Lo Kai-ho.

The first 1,000 attendees on the first day will receive a complimentary lucky bag, with gifts valued at more than HK$150. Limited lucky bags will be given out every day.

Tickets cost HK$30 with a buy-one-get-one-free offer.

Adults can enjoy offers of HK$40 for three people and HK$50 for four people.

People with handicaps will enjoy HK$10 tickets upon presentation of a disability card.

Free admission is available for children whose height is 1.2 meters or below, full-time students and the mature aged 65 or above, with valid documents presented.

Attendees will only need to show the event tickets for the redemption of a discounted HK$47 Airport Express round-trip ticket from Kowloon or Hong Kong station to AsiaWorld-Expo station.

Children with valid child Octopus card can enjoy free rides on the Airport Express.

"The 10,000 square-meter site will welcome more than 10,000 visitors," Chong said.
