Two people in connection with an online gay sex video have been arrested after the nine-year-old footage went viral late last month.

The two suspects, a 40-year-old jobless man, Ng, and a 45-year-old insurance agent, Chow, were arrested in a Yuen Long apartment on Monday. They were being detained for questioning as of last night.

The two were held for the unauthorized use of police uniforms, distributing obscene articles, possessing false instruments, handling stolen goods and possessing offensive weapons.

Cyber security and technology crime bureau senior inspector Lau Chun-yu said only one of the two suspects appeared in the video, which was filmed in 2012.

Lau said none of the men in the video were police officers, adding that the video was made to satisfy the suspects' abnormal taste for sex.

He said police had seized equipment such as a walkie-talkie, a handcuff, an extendable baton, a BB gun, a fake police warrant card and several alleged police uniforms from the apartment.

"Equipment seized from the apartment, such as a BB gun, a handcuff and an extendable baton, are not police constables' typical equipment," he said.

"But the uniforms do bear a strong resemblance to the genuine ones, and police are still investigating their origin and authenticity."

Lau said police also seized hard disks containing obscene videos - including five phones and a computer from the apartment. He said police were still looking for other suspects.

Lau warned that anyone publishing obscene articles could be punishable by a maximum penalty of HK$1 million in fine and a three-year imprisonment, according to the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance.

"Anyone in possession of offensive weapons, such as handcuffs, could have breached section 17 of the Summary Offences Ordinance and is liable to a two-year imprisonment," he said.

"And anyone in possession of false instruments, such as fake police warrant cards, could have breached section 75 of the Crimes Ordinance and is liable to a 14-year imprisonment."

The 10-second video, which went viral online last month, features two men wearing constable uniforms and a third wearing stripes of a sergeant. All of them are equipped with batons, handguns and walkie-talkies.

They are seen performing oral sex and sexual intercourse, during which one "constable" is leaning against a wooden chair, while the other two hold him from the front and behind.
