Veteran hiker has new heights to conquerCentral Station | Mandy Zheng 24 Dec 2020
Hong Kong's youngest hiker to have conquered the world's Seven Summits aims to climb the city's top 100 highest mountains within three days to raise HK$300,000 for the organ donation movement.
Physical therapist Elton Ng Chun-ting, 42, will start from the hills on Lantau Island at 11am next Thursday and finish his journey at 11am on January 3. His 24,000-meter trail will cover the SAR's highest peak, Tai Mo Shan, as well as other mountains including Violet Hill, Pat Sin Leng and Sunset Peak.
In doing so, he hopes to raise over HK$300,000 for the Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association via a crowd-funding campaign (www.fringebacker.com/zh-tw/projects/100-peaks-hk) as well as to encourage organ donations, which hit a record low this year amid the pandemic.
The veteran hiker made his name in Hong Kong after conquering the Seven Summits - the highest mountains of each of the seven continents - including Mount Everest.
