Rich words at hybrid book fair

Meet bestselling author Kevin Kwan of Crazy Rich Asians fame to hear him talk about his latest novel at the 20th Hong Kong International Literary Festival, which starts today until November 15.

Kwan will be discussing his latest novel Sex and Vanity with Hong Kong journalist Lee Williamson on November 14.

This year, the festival allows audiences to view the event online or live at Asia Society Hong Kong Centre in Admiralty, which Kwan will attend virtually. With 75 virtual, live and hybrid events featuring a line-up of more than 120 local, regional and international authors, the festival comprises workshops, lectures, debates, book signings and readings.

"The hybrid model is something we are excited about in particular - authors will be live-streamed at Tai Kwun and Asia Society, and while this is different from a live appearance, it is still a thrill to interact, ask questions and be part of the audience," said festival director Catherine Platt.

Twenty of the 75 events are free of charge, ticketed online events cost HK$50 and live events HK$100 to $120.
