Five students from Christian Alliance International School (CAIS) have been awarded the Jury Prizes in the Canada Day Card Cover Design Contest 2020, a city-wide competition organized by the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao.

The Canada Day Card Cover Design Contest, as part of the celebration of Canada Day 2020, invited students in Grades 1 to 6 and 7 to 12 to design a superhero that represents ‘Your Canada’. The winning designs are selected based on the point-rated criteria of adherence to the theme, creativity, originality and aesthetics, which will be used as the greeting card covers of the Consulate General of Canada for Canada Day 2020.

Grade 1 student Angelo Chan is one of the Jury Prize winners who have received First Prize in the Primary School category with his ‘Maple Boy’ artwork. Whereas Grade 5 student Charmaine Chau has received Second Prize in the Primary School category, and Chloe Chau from Grade 7 is the Second Prize winner in the Secondary School category. Moreover, Arielle Chor of Grade 1 and Natalie Lau of Grade 3 have also been awarded the Honourable Mentions.

“We are so proud to see that CAIS students have developed a strong interest in art,” says Richard Vanderpyl, CAIS Head of School. “CAIS is dedicated to empowering students through creativity. It’s critical that our students are engaged with and exposed to arts in every way while they thrive academically. The Contest provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and skills.”
