Stranded Hong Kong students who have been pursuing a bachelor’s degree overseas can go with PolyU SPEED to finish their studies.
Under the health threats posed by COVID-19, tens of thousands of Hong Kong students have returned home from their overseas study. While schools in Hong Kong will gradually resume classes starting late May, such prospects are nowhere in sight at popular overseas study destinations like the UK or US. Rather than spending time passively waiting, these students can choose to finish their studies in Hong Kong instead.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Professional Education and Executive Development (PolyU SPEED) is now inviting students who have returned to Hong Kong from their overseas study due to the pandemic to apply for admission to PolyU SPEED’s two-year full-time articulation honours degree programmes (top-up) for the 2020/21 academic year, providing that they are currently enrolled in an overseas bachelor’s degree programme and have completed at least half of that programme. Study with PolyU SPEED will commence on August 31 this year. Upon graduation, students will be conferred a PolyU-SPEED award.
Dr. Jack Lo, Director of PolyU SPEED, says, “A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Students who have returned to Hong Kong from overseas study should seize the day by finishing their studies to get a bachelor’s degree here at home. By the time the economy picks up, they will then be ready to ride the wave. Meanwhile, they will also be saving considerable expenses required for studying overseas.”
PolyU SPEED offers nearly 30 two-year full-time articulation honours degree programmes that span across a wide array of business and professional fields. What is more, many of the programmes are recognised by professional bodies including the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the CFA Institute, The Chartered Institute of Building, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers; such recognition can facilitate the professional development of graduates.
