HK government vows action over construction defects across projects: Bernadette Linn

Development Bureau Secretary Bernadette Linn Hon-ho said on Thursday that the government will pursue the matter to the end regarding the issue of insufficient steel reinforcement at K&K Property's One Stanley, investigating whether the contractors or professionals involved are found to have been negligent or deceptive.

Linn noted that the Buildings Department is currently investigating the matter and will release further details once the probe is complete.

Meanwhile, regarding CK Asset's(1113) Starter Homes project on Anderson Road in Kwun Tong, Linn pointed out that problems involving steel reinforcement were discovered in the project, and prosecutions have already been initiated against the contractor and relevant professionals.

She added that if the project failed to be completed by the deadline as stipulated, the government reserves the right to collect the land premium.

Contractual disputes between the developer and the contractor will be handled independently by the two parties, said Linn.
