A 130-square-foot duplex flat in Hong Kong’s Kwun Tong district has drawn online astonishment after a video showed how it was remodeled to fit three bedrooms, a living area and even a luxury-style staircase.

The video, posted by a Douyin influencer, revealed how the tiny unit squeezes in living quarters for a couple and their preteen child.
The ground floor features the child’s room with a retractable bed, desk, shelves, and cabinets. “Every detail had to fit perfectly, with no more than a millimeter’s tolerance for the door to open,” the influencer said.

Upstairs, a loft-style master bedroom fits a double bed and a window for ventilation, accessed by a steep staircase with storage spaces built into its structure.
The third “room” is in fact just an open sleeping space on the ground floor. “A foldable sofa or floor mattress can turn this area into a sleeping space for one more person,” he said.
When discussing the luxury-style staircase, the influencer explained that it functions like a ladder, allowing someone to reach up and access storage in the loft area.
While some viewers marveled at the ingenuity – calling it “magical” – others expressed discomfort at the cramped space.
