New song homes in on patriotism

The Working Group on Patriotic Education under the Constitution and Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee launched a theme song titled Our Home yesterday to promote patriotic education.

Cally Kwong Mei-wan, the 61-year-old former Miss Hong Kong and member of the Media Publicity sub-group under the working group, performed Our Home, produced by musician Alan Cheung Ka-shing.

"The key message encourages people to love their country as much as they love their families," the government said.

Convenor Starry Lee Wai-king said, "We hope that this theme song will subtly develop national awareness and enhance feelings of 'Love our Country, Love Hong Kong, Love our Community'."

Lee said that the working group will later distribute USBs containing the karaoke version of Our Home to primary and secondary schools so that patriotic education can be better integrated into students' daily studies.

The karaoke version features landmarks and scenery in Hong Kong, allowing viewers to enjoy the melody and catchy lyrics while appreciating the beauty of Hong Kong.
