Eight football teams from Hong Kong and Macau will go head-to-head in the first-ever Women's Tournament in the city hosted by Hong Kong Football Club and will be part of their 25th Soccer Sevens celebrations, which starts from May 24 to 26 at the club's headquarters in Happy Valley.
The HKFC Soccer Sevens Organizing Committee chairman Scott Semple said Hong Kong holds a special place within women's games in Asia and women's football has been gaining global attention.
"We hope that through this initiative we can play a role in further developing the women's game, both in Hong Kong and beyond," Semple said.
A total of 26 teams will join the women's, Masters Tournament, and the Main Men's Event that kicks off on May 25.
All three will run until May 26.
