Many in Tung Chung were reminded that Christmas was fast approaching when they saw men in red hanging from a Ngong Ping 360 cable. The exercise was captured by online user Alex Sing, using a professional "super telephoto lens."
But the men were dropped off by a helicopter - not by a bunch of reindeer - and the whole thing was actually a rescue drill.

The Fire Services Department's high angle rescue team, Civil Aid Service's mountain search and rescue company and the Government Flying Service performed the drill.
Other online users, after seeing Sing's photo, said the rescuers resembled "a bunch of very busy Santa Clauses coming to town." They also "saluted" them, saying their palms were sweating just from looking at the photos. The Fire Services Department and Civil Aid Service said the dill improves the efficiency of rescue operations and coordination across departments.
