Hong Kong on Monday began a five-day joint rescue drill with teams from Guangdong and Macao to test cross-border emergency coordination through a dedicated Green Channel.
The mechanism is designed to facilitate the rapid cross-border deployment of rescue personnel and resources during major emergencies.
According to the Security Bureau, the cross-border firefighting and rescue exercise is being held at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy.
Escorted by police on Monday morning, fire and rescue teams from Guangdong and Macao arrived at the academy via the Shenzhen Bay Port and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port.
The authorities said multiple bureaus and departments were coordinating to ensure the smooth operation of the Green Channel.
They include the Security Bureau, Transport and Logistics Bureau, Transport Department, Hong Kong Police Force, Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department, Department of Health, Trade and Industry Department and Office of the Communications Authority.
The Security Bureau said it would continue to refine cross-border emergency response protocols and clearance arrangements to strengthen rescue capabilities and safeguard public safety.
