Iron rod falls from building in Wan Chai, hits foreign domestic helper

A foreign domestic helper was injured after an iron rod fell from a building in Wan Chai on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Cross Street at around noon. A 77-centimeter-long iron bar, about 4 centimeters in diameter, fell from a window ledge and struck a 57-year-old foreign domestic helper on the head and foot.

The woman remained conscious. A friend with her called for help. Paramedics arrived and took her to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment.

The case has been assigned to the criminal investigation team of Wan Chai district for investigation. No arrests have been made so far.
