Mainland man arrested for burglaries at four Sha Tin Village houses, incurring $82,800 in losses

Police arrested a 38-year-old mainland Chinese man in Ma On Shan on Monday for allegedly breaking into four village houses in Sha Tin district last December, stealing electronic items and cash worth about HK$82,800.

Between December 22 and 26 last year, police received four reports of burglaries at village houses in Sha Tin. The thief stole electronic products valued at around HK$79,000 and HK$2,800 in cash.

After in-depth investigation by the New Territories South Regional Crime Unit and Sha Tin District officers, the suspect was detained yesterday afternoon on Sai Sha Road in Ma On Shan.

During the arrest, police seized clothing suspected to have been worn by the suspect during the crimes.

The case has been transferred to the Sha Tin District Crime Squad for further investigation.
