Hong Kong Metropolitan University gets HK$22.4m grant for flight simulator lab

Hong Kong Metropolitan University has received a HK$22.4 million government grant to set up a flight simulation laboratory, equipped with an Airbus A350 flight simulator, to enhance aviation training.

The funding from the Education Bureau's Enhancement and Start-up Grant Scheme for Self-financing Post-secondary Education (ESGS) will support the Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation Services Management program.

University president Paul Lam Kwan-sing said the aviation industry's demand for professionals remains strong post-pandemic. The program trains local pilots with industry input in curriculum design, teaching and assessment.

The simulator lab will provide realistic cockpit training, bridging theory and practice to prepare graduates for industry challenges and support Hong Kong's role as an international aviation hub.

Separately, Hong Kong Shue Yan University received HK$25.1 million to launch applied courses in surveying and dispute resolution.

The bureau is now accepting applications for the 2025/26 grant scheme until April 15, 2026.
