A 48-year-old man and his 11-year-old daughter are both in stable condition in the hospital after ingesting rat poison in their Fung Tak Estate flat on Saturday night, police said on Tuesday (Nov 25).
Investigators from Wong Tai Sin have reclassified the case from attempted murder to administering poison with intent to injure and are continuing their inquiry, with the father still detained for questioning.

The incident came to light when the man’s elderly mother found him vomiting and noticed pink powder in the kitchen that matched rat bait used in the building.
She then realized her granddaughter had been given several cups of longan honey, believed to have been laced with the poison.
The divorced father had reportedly been living with his parents and daughter in Toi Fung House since splitting from his wife three years ago.
He was diagnosed with schizophrenia five years earlier but had refused follow-up treatment until accompanying his mother to a clinic two months ago.
