Lau Chun-hin, known online as Carriage Lau, pleaded guilty on Tuesday (Nov 25) to assaulting fellow influencer Ip Tsz-kin and groping a female stranger earlier this year. He was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment for wounding and two weeks for common assault, with the terms to run concurrently.
In July 2025, Lau attacked Ip at a hotpot restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui, punching and kicking him while he dined.
CCTV footage showed the assault lasting about five seconds before restaurant staff restrained Lau, who fled before police arrival. Ip suffered head contusions, corneal bleeding, a fractured nose, and property damage totaling HK$4,500. Lau surrendered to police the next day and had previously admitted to common assault.
On September 3, 2025, Lau approached a woman at a Starbucks in Tin Shui Wai, under the pretense of asking for directions, and groped her thigh before fleeing.
The victim pursued him to a Light Rail station, where Lau handed her HK$200.
At Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts, the 29-year-old unemployed Lau admitted to both charges, claiming he acted out of anger toward Ip, alleging that Ip had sexually assaulted him during tutoring in 2018. Lau expressed remorse and accepted legal responsibility.
Magistrate Andrew Mok Tsz-chung cited Lau’s guilty plea as a mitigating factor in sentencing. Prosecutors noted that Lau has nine prior convictions, five of which involved violent offenses.
