A waterfront park located in Sai Ying Pun will open next month, designed to offer an inclusive entertainment experience for the public, according to Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho.
The open space, covering an area of about 1.32 hectares, will connect Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park and the Western Wholesale Food Market, Linn said in her online blog on Sunday (Nov 9).
Miffi Cheng Hiu-ying, Senior Architect of the Architectural Services Department (ArchSD), highlighted that the park will feature Hong Kong’s first cloud-shaped outdoor inflatable playground facility.
It can accommodate multiple children at once, with an anti-slip and cushioned design.
The design team from the ArchSD also installed impact-absorbing padding integrated with seating to ensure the safety of the facility, while staff will be stationed on-site to explain the rules.
Children of various ages were invited to participate in trial sessions before the park officially opens. Adjustments were made to the facility rules and arrangements based on feedback.

Jenny Chan Lai-kuen, Project Manager (Harbour) at the Development Bureau, stated that the park will include a water and sand play area, the first of its kind along the Victoria Harbour waterfront, offering sensory experiences for children.
A large rotating platform complemented by barrier-free access has also been established, making the area accessible for wheelchair users.
Other facilities include an observation deck, swing sets, and a slide, along with amenities such as a baby care room and a snack kiosk.

Separately, the Eastern Section of the East Coast Boardwalk in North Point is expected to open in phases from December.
The 1.1-kilometer section will connect the Western Section of the Boardwalk and the North Point Promenade to Hoi Yu Street in Quarry Bay.
