A woman was found dead at Silverstrand Beach in Sai Kung on Wednesday morning after reportedly leaving a farewell note before her disappearance.

At 7.18 am, swimmers spotted the woman floating in the water off Silverstrand Beach and pulled her ashore before calling the police. Paramedics arrived shortly after but pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police later identified the deceased as a 59-year-old retired woman surnamed Lam.

According to sources, Lam had sent a message to her husband on Tuesday afternoon, saying she intended to take her own life due to illness.
