Three workers injured after electrical short circuit at TKO data center

Three workers were hospitalized on Tuesday after being injured by a short circuit during an inspection at MegaPlus, a data center in Tseung Kwan O. 

The incident occurred around 10am while the workers were inspecting electrical wiring installations in an electricity meter room, and a suspected short circuit sparked. 

Firefighters discovered the smoke upon arriving at the scene, while about 20 people had evacuated to safety on their own.

One worker sustained burns and was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Another suffered burns to the head and right hand and was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital, along with a worker who sustained an injury to the corner of the eye.

The case has been classified as an industrial accident, and the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
