HK customs arrests 3 in airport drug busts, seizes $6.4 million cannabis from Bangkok flights

Hong Kong Customs arrested three travelers and confiscated approximately HK$6.4 million worth of suspected cannabis flower in two separate drug interdiction operations at Hong Kong International Airport over the weekend. The seizures occurred during routine clearance procedures for arrivals from Bangkok, Thailand.

In the first case on Saturday, customs officers discovered about 8 kilograms of suspected cannabis flower and one suspected alternative smoking product in checked and carry-on luggage belonging to a 26-year-old male traveler and his female companion of the same age. Both were taken into custody immediately. 

The following day, a 37-year-old male traveler was arrested after approximately 20 kilograms of suspected cannabis flower were found in his checked suitcase during clearance examination.

All three individuals arrived on flights originating from Bangkok, with investigations ongoing into both cases. The total seizure amounted to approximately 28 kilograms of suspected cannabis products with an estimated street value of HK$6.4 million.
