InvestHK has secured interest from over 10 local and overseas enterprises for the Northern Metropolis projects since the second quarter of this year, covering industrial manufacturing, logistics and supply-chain management, innovation technology, tourism and education.
Government collaboration boosts Northern Metropolis promotion
In a social media post, Director-General of Investment Promotion Alpha Lau Hai-suen highlighted the department’s strengthened collaboration with various government bureaus, including co-organizing hybrid promotion sessions with the Development Bureau to showcase Northern Metropolis’s land policies, infrastructure planning, and investment opportunities to both domestic and international businesses.
The Innovation, Technology, and Industry Bureau was also invited to brief InvestHK’s staff across 34 mainland and overseas offices, detailing the SAR government’s policy support for the mega development plan.
Lau noted that the department has leveraged its global network and overseas engagements to promote Northern Metropolis’s investment potential.

Key efforts included hosting briefings for UAE investment firms and spotlighting Hong Kong’s biotechnology strengths and Northern Metropolis infrastructure opportunities at BIO International Convention 2025 in the US.
Over the past two months, it has arranged industry players interested in establishing operations in the NM with meetings at the Northern Metropolis Coordination Office and assisted potential investors in submitting letters of intent.
Lawmaker proposes tapping family offices for Northern Metropolis growth
Meanwhile, lawmaker Peter Shiu Ka-fai suggested at a Legislative Council commerce, industry, innovation and technology panel meeting yesterday that the department should proactively match overseas family offices with development projects in the Northern Metropolis, clearly presenting participation opportunities to attract investment.
