Development Secretary Bernadette Linn Hon-ho revealed on Saturday that the government is finalizing details for the upcoming tender of one or two large land parcels in the Northern Metropolis project, with bidding expected to commence in the second half of 2025.
Speaking on a radio program this morning, Linn emphasized the administration's focus on advancing development in the northern New Territories while addressing concerns about the Kau Yi Chau Artificial Islands project.

She said that as the economy is showing steady growth, authorities are hoping that all sectors will focus on development in the Northern Metropolis.
She clarified that while the artificial islands project has been slowed down, it has not been abandoned.
"In terms of the word 'shelve', if it means we will never continue with it, I think the government should have the lead in land development and we should not casually say we will never do something in the future."
The government has already received proposals from local and mainland developers interested in the three major land plots within the Northern Metropolis.
Officials are currently refining tender conditions, with the goal of launching the bidding process for at least one or two parcels later this year.
Regarding eco-tourism initiatives, Linn indicated that the redevelopment of the former Lamma Quarry site is likely to be the first project to move forward, with land-use planning slated for completion by mid-2025 before tendering begins.
Two additional eco-tourism projects are also in the pipeline: an Eco-Recreation Corridor in South Lantau and ecotourism hubs at Tsim Bei Tsui and Pak Nai.
