Thailand has long been a popular destination for tourists from Hong Kong, despite recent incidents where travelers were lured into scam operations in neighboring Myanmar.
However, starting May 1, every foreign visitor entering Thailand—whether by land, sea, or air—must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within three days prior to their arrival.
The TDAC application is free and is distinct from a visa application. It requires travelers to provide personal details such as passport number, occupation, and contact information, along with their accommodation details in Thailand and a health declaration.
Upon submission, applicants will receive a confirmation email containing a QR code, which will serve as a digital entry token. Travelers failing to present a valid TDAC upon arrival will be denied entry into the country.
The Thai authorities stated that the new system aims to streamline the entry process, making it quicker, safer, and paperless.

To apply for the TDAC, visitors must access the official website and select the "Arrival Card" option. The website supports multiple languages, including English and Chinese, to accommodate international travelers.
Applicants can either upload a clear passport photo or manually input their details in English.
For ease of use, typing the first three letters of an option in dropdown menus helps in quickly finding the correct selection.
Additional information required includes travel itinerary, flight details, and accommodation in Thailand.
Those who have been to high-risk areas within the past 14 days must complete an extra health declaration.
Travelers can also add details of fellow travelers using the "Add" button on the form.
Once the form is filled out, applicants should enter their email address to receive the TDAC confirmation and submission details. It is crucial to download the submitted application document or check the email for a confirmation message, which will be required at the point of entry.
Without this digital card, travelers will not be processed for entry into Thailand.
