Air Busan flight lands safely in Busan after landing gear issues cause go-around

An Air Busan Airbus flight from Hong Kong to Busan executed a go-around early Friday morning local time, after the pilot was unable to confirm the status of the landing gear. The Airbus A321, flight number BX392, carrying 112 passengers, eventually landed safely at Busan Gimhae International Airport.

The flight departed from Hong Kong International Airport at 2.19 am Hong Kong time and was scheduled to arrive in Busan at 6.20 am local time. However, due to a malfunction in the flight instruments, the captain could not verify if the landing gear had been deployed correctly, necessitating the go-around. The air traffic controller visually confirmed the landing gear's status, and after ensuring no issues were present, the aircraft landed at 6.32 am, only 12 minutes behind schedule.

A representative from Air Busan disclosed that although the landing gear functioned correctly, the instrument panel indicated a discrepancy in the timing between the deployment of the left and right landing gear. This incident comes in the wake of the recent Jeju Air crash, prompting the captain to opt for a go-around to fully assess the situation. It is suspected that a temporary error in the system sensor linked to the instrument panel was the cause.

Further inspections are planned to verify the issue, and a replacement aircraft has been arranged for subsequent flights. The involved Airbus will undergo a thorough inspection before returning to service.
