Nine-year-old boy calls police after mother leaves three kids home alone

A mother who left three children at home alone was arrested after police were called to Tung Chung as a nine-year-old reported his mother missing.

At around 10 am, a nine-year-old boy living at the Hong Yat House in Yat Tung Estate reported his mother had been gone for some time after leaving their apartment.

Officers arrived at the scene and found that other than the nine-year-old boy, his six-year-old sister and two-year-old brother were alone at home.

The 36-year-old mother, surnamed Fung, was arrested on suspicion of ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of child or young person. 

It was learned that the mother left the apartment in tears after an argument with her husband over traveling, who had gone to work after the quarrel.

The nine-year-old was worried after his mother had not returned for over an hour and contacted the police for assistance.
