This followed Royal Caribbean’s earlier announcement that Quantum Ultra-class cruise ship, Spectrum of the Seas, will also make Hong Kong its home port starting this December.
By then, both ships will be based in Hong Kong and provide cruise trips to Da Nang in Vietnam, Okinawa and Kyushu in Japan, etc.
Royal Caribbean said the demand for cruise trips has surged among holidaymakers in the city and Hong Kong-based routes charted for Spectrum of the Seas have received overwhelming support.
The company therefore decided to adopt a dual cruise ship strategy and deploy Ovation of the Seas to answer citizens’ demands.
The company said it has confidence in generating another heat wave of cruise holidays and to further consolidate the city’s status as Asia's cruise hub.
